GREEN SMOOTHIE

Green Smoothie

Green Smoothie is one of my favorite quick breakfast items or mid-day snacks because it’s so easy to make. You pretty much throw everything into a blender and you got a drinkable meal. You can’t really screw it up. It’s so easy and so healthy for you. However, none of the above matters if it doesn’t taste good. It’s refreshing, smooth, creamy and pretty. All it takes is just a few ingredients, avocado, spinach, coconut juice, apple and agave to sweet it up a little bit.  To be honest with you, when I first thought about making it, I did not know if it would taste as good as a regular smoothie. So, it was a crossing fingers moment.

So, here’s how to make it. This is almost too embarrassing to call it a recipe because it is just so easy!

Cut apple into small chunks. Don’t worry about the perfection, they will get blended anyway.
Slice the avocado open vertically and remove the pit.
Using just the tip of the knife, slice into the avocado flesh, making sure to not pierce the skin.
Scoop it out from the skin and add it to the blender, follow by the rest of the ingredients.

First, I did not add any sweetener. I wanted to see what it tastes like. Turned out it needed a little bit of sweetness so I added some agave into it. I was making one serving today just for me so all I added was a table spoon of agave.

Also, I would imagine other juice such as apple or orange juice would be a good substitution if you do not have coconut water. Just add less agave or none since the juice is probably sweet enough already.

One other thing, all of my ingredients other than agave and avocado were already cold  so I did not add any ice, if you want it colder, you can add 3-4 ice cubes.

Once everything is in, blend them until they are smooth. It takes about 30 seconds or so and voila! there you have it, Green Smoothie. Creamy, refreshing and good for you. It is a great way to start your day.

I also have a few other smoothie recipes, Cinnamon Roll Smoothie , Strawberry Banana Smoothie , Blueberry Fig Banana Smoothie, Pumpkin Oatmeal Smoothie and Cranberry Banana Smoothie. I hope you also give them a try. 🙂
