HEAVENLY WAFFLES

March 15, 2020 By Mink 4 Comments

Heavenly Waffles

I had the best waffles a few weeks ago at ‘Bring Men to Barre’ class at Pure Barre, where I work out religiously. I walked in and saw a waffle station with a good size Breville Waffle Maker and all the wonderful toppings. The whole studio smelled heavenly. Right then, I knew it was going to be a happy day. Heavenly Waffles was there to make us their yummy waffles. They were crispy outside, yet light and fluffy unlike any waffles I had before.  I topped mine off with some blueberries and raspberries.  My man was definitely happier about waffles than the class, and I don’t blame him. 🙂

Why their waffles are different than others? First of all, 40% of their dry mix is yogurt, lending to their unique texture and healthy aspects (we worked out too hard so it was just perfect!). It has 7 grams of protein and only 110 calories per 4 oz. waffle. The batter also holds for 4 days in the fridge. Needless to say the first time we made them,  we didn’t have any leftovers because we used all the batter.

Heavenly Waffles

We started with the savory breakfast, a waffle sandwich with smoked ham, pepper jack cheese, avocado and tomato. Then, we didn’t stop there. We also made a couple more waffles for dessert, or brunch, whatever you want to call it. We topped them with fresh strawberries blueberries, sprinkle with some powder sugar and maple syrup. Oh my… let me tell you, it was just like their name, Heavenly Waffles!

Heavenly Waffles

We bought a large bag of the mix and their non-stick spray, which has a higher smoke point and should save the life of our waffle maker. Here’s the funny part though. We did NOT have a waffle maker! But I knew that day in my heart that we are now going to get one for sure. ha! I did a bunch of research and ended up with Breville Smart Pro which is the brand they also recommended. I ordered ours on-line, you can from their website or amazon.com. It’s like the Ferrari of waffle makers. Simply the best! We got the 2-slice waffle maker, since it’s just us two most of the time.

For the best result, they also recommend using a blender like Vitamix. I don’t have a  Vitamix so I just used my Ninja.

Let’s cook some food! I mean… let’s make some waffles!

Add the waffle mix, oil, egg and carbonated water (you can use club soda, a.k.a. seltzer, beer or champagne) into the blender.

Heavenly Waffles

Blend on high for 1 minute if you use Vitamix. If you use a Ninja blender like I did, you can mix it longer as Ninja’s vortex is different. Heavenly Waffles mix is not like other waffle or pancake mix so you don’t have to worry about overmixing, your waffles will still be moist and crispy outside.

Heavenly Waffles

Heat up your waffle maker to high.

Heavenly Waffles

Once the waffle maker is ready, spray it with non-stick spray.

Heavenly Waffles

Fill with the batter 3/4 full, let it sit in the waffle iron for about 20 seconds before closing, to avoid overspill. The batter will rise due to the carbonated water.

For crispy waffles, you can leave the waffle iron open longer than 20 seconds before closing, to let the steam out.

If you notice my setting, I adjusted it to lower temperature because I didn’t know how dark the waffles would turn out. If I left it at high, it would result in darker and crispier waffles.

Heavenly Waffles

Close the lid and wait for the count down (4-5 minutes).

Heavenly Waffles

That’s it! Easy peasy!

Heavenly Waffles

Hope you enjoy your waffles as much as we did. Be creative with your toppings, the possibilities are endless.

So glad we stopped at Lanoha Nurseries this weekend. Surprise! We tasted the best waffles… and we’re not big waffle eaters! They were absolutely amazing!! The best part is these low sodium, yogurt-based waffles were light and didn’t leave our bellies with that heavy feeling. The drizzles tasted great, too. (Please share your secret.). We’re so impressed. Thanks Chef Haney!

Thank you for sharing! Same here. I tasted it at Pure Barre West Omaha and loved it so much that I had to order a waffle maker (we didn’t have one). Have been using their waffle mix since. 🙂
