RASPBERRY TEA

August 20, 2016 By Mink 4 Comments

Raspberry Tea

Summer is still with us and I wanted some iced tea today. Raspberries are still in season and are on sale at my local grocery store right now. So, I decided to make Raspberry Tea. I love flavored tea. Here is the link to other fruity tea that I made, Peach Tea and Blueberry Tea. They’re both great. To me, anything homemade is great. There’s no preservatives or artificial colors. It’s super simple, so fresh and not overly sweet.

Red raspberries are super fruit. They contain strong antioxidants such as Vitamin C, quercetin and gallic acid that fight against cancer, heart and circulatory disease and age-related decline. They are high in ellagic acid, a known chemopreventative, and have been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties.

I also used green tea for the base of the tea. It is loaded with antioxidants and nutrients that have powerful effects on the body. This includes improved brain function, fat loss, a lower risk of cancer.

By the way, I didn’t know all the benefits of them in that much details. Thanks to my good friend Mr. Google. 🙂

o.k. Let’s make some tea!

Start with simple syrup. Boil sugar and water in a small sauce pan (small pot). Once it comes to a boil, and the sugar is completely dissolves, turn off the heat. Set aside.

Raspberry Tea
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Turn off the heat, add green tea bags into the pot and let them sit for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, discard the tea bags and let it cool.

Raspberry Tea
Add the raspberries into a blender or a food processor. I saved a few for garnish later.

Blend for 10-15 seconds.

I love the gorgeous bright red color.

Pour raspberry puree through a strainer. Use a spoon to push it through.

Add simple syrup into the tea.

Followed by strained raspberry puree.

Stir to combine.

Raspberry Tea
Refrigerate and chill for at least 1 hour. Serve over ice and garnish with a few fresh raspberries and sliced lemon (optional).

Raspberry Tea

I also pour it into small tea glass bottles that I’ve saved from store bought tea, so I can bring those to work.

Hope you give this Raspberry Tea,  Peach Tea  or Blueberry Tea a try and let me know how it goes, the comment box is below.
