SPICY GARLIC EDAMAME

April 10, 2016 By Mink 7 Comments

Spicy Garlic Edamame

This Spicy Garlic Edamame is finger-licking good, great as a snack, appetizer or side dish and super easy to make. Edamame is a preparation of immature soybeans in the pod, found in the cuisine of China, Japan, Korea and Hawaii. The pods are boiled or steamed and usually served with salt. I got the pre-cooked edamame from Trader Joe’s. I also saw them in the frozen vegetable section in my local grocery store as well. They are pretty easy to find nowadays. You can thaw and just serve them with some sea salt but today I’m jazzing them up by making the sweet and salty spicy garlic glaze. Yum! 🙂

Let’s cook some food!

Thaw the pre-cooked edamame according the the package instructions.

Make the sauce for the glaze. Here are the ingredients for the sauce, Agave (or sugar), Chinese chili crisp paste which adds the smokiness to the sauce, Oyster Sauce and Golden Mountain Seasoning Sauce (or light soy sauce).

Mix everything in a small bowl.

Toss and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until sauce is slightly thickened and edamame is heated through.  That’s it! Spicy Garlic Edamame is ready to be served.

It’s addicting and I hope you give this recipe a try. If you make them, come back and leave a comment below. I’d love to hear what you think. 🙂
